A criminal case was opened against officials in Naryn region who issued a permit to cut down more than 5,000 trees. Press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
The regional prosecutor’s office checked the regional department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision.
It was found out that the responsible persons, abusing their official powers in the period from 2019 to 2021, illegally issued a permit to cut down 5,785 trees for a total of 3,700,000 soms. This caused damage to the environment and led to a reduction in the number of forests and flora.
A criminal case has been initiated on the fact under Article 337 «Abuse of official position» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, an investigation is underway.
