«The CSTO aims to achieve settlement of disagreements between the participating countries in the near future,» Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said at a press conference.
He recalled that conflicts repeatedly took place at the border between two members of the CSTO, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in 2021-2022. They did not develop into a full-scale conflict, but the parties pulled in additional forces and means to the border, and then withdrew them.
«The CSTO is still counting on the approval of the document on assistance to Armenia. Based on the results of the work of this mission, a draft decision of the Collective Security Council on joint measures to provide assistance to Armenia was prepared, which was considered at the session of the Collective Security Council on November 23 in Yerevan. I would like to hope that, after appropriate revision, we will come to adoption of two important complementary documents — decision of the Collective Security Council on rendering assistance to Armenia and the statement of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers in support of efforts to achieve peace in the South Caucasus region,» Stanislav Zas emphasized.
Earlier, Kyrgyzstan proposed to revise the charter of the CSTO. In particular, there was an idea to expel from the CSTO for a conflict with a member of the organization.
