It is planned to bring 50 electric buses to Osh and open a new trolleybus line. Press service of the City Hall reports.
According to it, Mayor of the city Bakytbek Zhetigenov held a meeting with consultants from Atknis (UK) on the project «Modernization of electric public transport in Osh», implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
According to EBRD representative Nurgul Kudranova, the consultants will get acquainted with the city’s transport system, operation of public transport, and study the needs of residents. Based on the results, proposals will be developed to improve the operation of the public transport system of the southern capital.
Victor Sanchez, Deputy Director of Atknis, said that due to the growth of the city’s population, the issue of development of the public transport system became increasingly important, so the assistance of consultants within the project would be effective for many years to come.
The City Hall recalled that within the framework of the Osh electric public transport modernization project, work is planned to launch the third trolleybus line, including the purchase of 50 electric buses, 20 trolleybuses, construction of appropriate infrastructure, recharging stations and modernization of the depot.
According to the project, the length of the trolleybus line will be 6.3 kilometers one way. The route will run through the most densely populated microdistricts of the city: Aravanskaya, Kulatov, Anar, Ak-Tilek.
Bakytbek Zhetigenov noted that the City Hall was ready to cooperate in the implementation of the project and would provide all possible assistance to the work of consultants.
