As of October 1, more than 100,000 unemployed people are registered with employment services in Kyrgyzstan. Nargiza Turkebekova, head of the Employment Promotion Department of the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration, told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, 75,600 people have the official status of unemployed. At least 80 percent of them are without any qualifications and have mostly only a school education.
The Ministry of Labor assists the unemployed in finding employment by working closely with employers to find vacancies.
«According to our data, 21 registered people apply for one vacancy. We attract the unemployed to public paid work, send them to free retraining and advanced training. There are cases when people cannot find work in their profession. Basically, these are lawyers, economists, they have to retrain. After completing short-term courses, people are employed in 60 percent of cases,» said Nargiza Turkebekova.
She noted that there are many vacancies in the spheres of services, construction, and light industry.
