As of 8.30 a.m. on September 20, the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border in Chon-Alai district of Osh region and in Batken region is characterized as relatively stable. The Department of Information and Communications of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The night of September 20 passed quietly, without incidents.
The units of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, deployed on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, are still on combat alert.
«Following the results of negotiations between the delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, working commissions will continue measures to de-escalate the situation and check implementation of agreements on the withdrawal of additional forces and means from the state border line to their places of permanent deployment. The working commissions will consider the proposals and decisions made during the meeting,» the statement says.
Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 183 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
