The President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov had a telephone conversation with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Press service of the head of state reported.
Sadyr Japarov congratulated his colleague on the successful holding of a nationwide referendum on the adoption of amendments and additions to the Constitution of Kazakhstan. He noted that the Kyrgyz side took part in the monitoring of the referendum among other missions of international observers (the SCO, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly) and witnessed a historic moment in determining the further development of Kazakhstan.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for his part, thanked Sadyr Japarov and noted that the people of Kazakhstan had made a fateful decision. The President of Kazakhstan briefly told about the main goals and objectives of the constitutional reform.
«The leaders of the countries also discussed implementation of the agreements reached during the official visit of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Kyrgyzstan. The parties agreed to continue an active political dialogue aimed at strengthening good neighborliness and brotherhood between the two states and peoples,» the statement says.
