President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, within the framework of his official visit to Baku, held talks with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in a tête-à-tête format. Press service of the head of state reported.
The heads of state discussed the current state and prospects of the Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
In his speech, Ilham Aliyev stressed that the Azerbaijani side is committed to active cooperation in all areas of cooperation and expressed confidence that the visit of Sadyr Japarov would serve to further strengthening of relations between the two countries.
The President of Azerbaijan noted that an exchange of views would take place on issues of economic cooperation, an increase in trade turnover and regional security, and many documents would be signed, including the main one — the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, which would bring Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani relations to a qualitatively new level.
In turn, Sadyr Japarov expressed his gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for the invitation to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan and for the hospitality.
«It is important to emphasize that the foundation of Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani relations was laid by the historical figure Heydar Aliyev. Since then, there have been very good relations between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, based on deep historical and spiritual ties between our peoples,» Sadyr Japarov said.
He expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with fraternal Azerbaijan in all areas of mutual interest.
After the tête-à-tête meeting, Sadyr Japarov and Ilham Aliyev will continue negotiations in an expanded format.
