New Tax Code: Maximum single tax rate set for catering sector in Kyrgyzstan

The maximum single tax rate was set in the new Tax Code for enterprises in the catering sector. Executive Director of the International Business Council Askar Sydykov told today at a press conference.

According to him, the new version of the Tax Code came into force on January 2022. It establishes a ranking of the single tax rates depending on the type of economic activity. For unknown reasons, the maximum rate of 8 percent was set for the public catering sector. At the same time, for example, for processing of agricultural products and trade, the rate is 2 and 4 percent for payments in cash and non-cash form, respectively.

«The International Business Council was initially involved in the process of making proposals to the draft of the new version of the Tax Code. Back in September 2021, we asked why the maximum rate was set for the catering sector. But there was no answer to this question. Then individual representatives of the sector addressed, but there was no analytics, no common position, and sufficient data. In January 2022 we were approached by representatives of the sector with a clear justification why it is necessary to reduce the tax rate,» Askar Sydykov said.

The President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov signed the new Tax Code only January 18, 2022, but the document entered into force on January 1, 2022.
