Number of energy companies in Kyrgyzstan to be halved

Number of energy companies will be halved. Press service of the National Energy Holding Company reported.

According to its data, seven out of the 14 currently operating companies will remain. The company notes that reform of the energy sector is carried out. The goal is to optimize costs, introduce new generating capacities and strengthen energy security.

According to the Energy Holding, the following companies will be merged:

  • Electric Stations JSC and Bishkek Heating Networks JSC;
  • National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan JSC (NENK);
  • Severelectro JSC, Vostokelectro JSC, Oshelectro JSC, and Jalal-Abadelectro JSC.

The merger of the distribution companies with NENK will take place in two stages. First, Severelectro, Vostokelectro, Oshelectro, and Jalal-Abadelectro will be merged with the National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan.

According to Energy Holding, the reform should also help optimize management personnel, develop regional power grids, and contribute to digitalization.
