Sanatbaev Sports School of Olympic Reserve opened in Bishkek

Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve named after Raatbek Sanatbaev was opened in Bishkek. Press service of the capital’s City Hall reported.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Bishkek Aibek Dzhunushaliev, the State Secretary Suyunbek Kasmambetov and the widow of the athlete Saira Sanatbaeva.

The City Hall noted that the sports complex is a large lightweight construction: a metal frame is filled with sandwich panels, its area is more than 2,000 square meters. «There are three sports halls in the building — a game hall, a wrestling hall and a gym, changing rooms, offices and showers. All premises are equipped with the necessary equipment and furniture. The territory has been landscaped, sidewalks and grounds are paved with paving stones,» the City Hall noted.

The old building of the sports complex was built in 1984, it was designed for 15 years. Eminent athletes, the pride of Kyrgyzstan — Aisuluu Tynybekova, Meerim Zhumanazarova and Aiperi Medet kyzy are the alumni of this complex.

Construction of the new building began in December 2019. At least 50 million soms were budgeted. The object was planned to be completed at the end of 2020.

Raatbek Sanatbaev — Honored Master of Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, bronze medalist of the World Championship. He was recognized as the best Greco-Roman style wrestler of the 20th century in the Kyrgyz Republic. For his achievements in sports he was awarded Dank medal, the Order of the National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, and many international and national prizes. He was shot dead in Bishkek on January 8, 2006.
