Final stage of Rubezh-2021 exercises takes place at Edelweiss training ground

The final stage of the joint exercises of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region of the CSTO Rubezh-2021 took place today, on September 9, at Edelweiss training ground. The Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Participants of the exercises conducted a counter-terrorist operation and, in practice, worked out the confrontation with illegal armed groups that, according to the scenario, invaded the territory of one of the member states of the military alliance.

The event was attended by military contingents and operational groups of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the Joint Staff and Secretariat of the CSTO, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, the Ministry of Emergencies and the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security.

«In total, these are more than a thousand people and 150 units of military and special equipment, including aviation — Su-30SM fighters, Su-25 attack aircraft, Mi-8 helicopters and Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles,» the statement says.

Actions of the units were also observed by the Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Commander of the Central Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, Military Attachés of Turkey, Russia, USA, Kazakhstan, India, Great Britain, Germany, France, Japan, accredited in the Kyrgyz Republic, representatives of international organizations are the head of the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Kyrgyz Republic and the head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek.

The exercises ended with awarding of distinguished servicemen and a solemn march.
