At least 19 servicemen of special forces of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan received various injuries. Head of SCNS Orozbek Opumbayev announced today at a meeting of the Parliament.
According to him, six people were hospitalized in serious condition.
«Six people in serious condition are in the intensive care unit now. One of them got eye injury. Five more people received gunshot wounds. Atambayev said that he has a gift firearm — Dragunov sniper rifle. He shot from it. Usen Niyazbekov was fatally wounded. This is a serious weapon, it pierced his bulletproof vest,» said Orozbek Opumbayev.
He noted that supporters of Almazbek Atambayev seized 14 AK-74 assault rifles from the special forces unit (which was located outside the village), 15 pistols and ammunition.
«A forensic examination will show which weapon Niyazbekov was shot from. 25 people received injuries of varying severity. Despite the promises and agreements reached, six employees are not released. Yesterday night, special forces of the SCNS attempted to detain the former president of the country Almazbek Atambayev in Koi-Tash village. However, the storm failed. Atambayev’s supporters did not let the special forces into the house of the former head of state. During the second detention attempt, riots broke out. Nearly 50 people were taken to hospitals in Bishkek and Chui region. One serviceman of the SCNS Special Forces received a gunshot wound. He died in a hospital. The head of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Chui region was broken his head. He’s in a coma. Criminal cases were opened after riots in Koi-Tash.
