It is proposed to lower driving experience threshold for permission to perform passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Transport and Roads reported.
The Ministry of Transport proposes to expand the list of documents for a permit for passenger transportation (except for passenger taxis) and international freight transport by road. Drivers will have to confirm work experience by presenting a work record or employment contract, an extract or a copy of an order for employment, a certificate of employment or a copy of voluntary license for business activities.
In addition, it is offered to lower the threshold of experience of drivers who can be engaged in passenger transportation. Previously, professional driving experience should have been at least five years. Ministry of Transport proposes to reduce it to three years.
The ministry explained to 24.kg news agency that the government has set five years of service term in order to improve road safety. However, there have been many complaints that drivers can not engage in transportation because of this requirement. In addition, the law on road transport states that it is enough to have a driving experience of at least three years for transportation of passengers.
