At least 1,800 Kyrgyzstanis kept in prisons abroad

Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, Tokon Mamytov, speaking at a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations of the Parliament, said that over 1,800 Kyrgyz citizens were serving sentences abroad.

According to him, most of them are in Russia, four our citizens are in prison in Uzbekistan. The leader of Ata Meken faction Almambet Shykmamatov reminded that the Kyrgyz Republic had no extradition agreement with Uzbekistan. He did not understand how Tokon Mamytov was going to solve the extradition of our citizens issue with the neighboring country.

Tokon Mamytov added that there were two ways, and he intended to discuss this issue with his colleagues.
