Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan to increase to $ 1 billion

The presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan held negotiations in a narrow format. This is reported by the Kazakh media. The leader of Kazakhstan made a number of statements.

Within the framework of meeting of Nursultan Nazarbayev with Sooronbai Jeenbekov, a roadmap for the settlement of the situation on the border of the two countries was signed.

During the joint statement of the two heads of state in Astana, an agreement between the two countries on the demarcation of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz state border and an agreement between the governments of the two countries on the regime of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border was signed. «Particular attention during our talks was paid to the issues of the bilateral economic agenda. Since our first meeting with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Minsk, important work has been done to implement the roadmap for border, transport, phytosanitary, veterinary, tax and customs control signed by our governments,» Nursultan Nazarbayev explained.

Now everything is normal. On the part of Kazakhstan, these measures were taken only in order to comply with the agreements we adopted within the framework of the EEU.

The President of Kazakhstan noted that now the situation on the border between the two countries has completely normalized, there is no congestion of transport at checkpoints. «The road map consists of operational short-term, but also systemic measures, which require a certain time for complete solution. In this regard, the governments of our countries at our meeting in a narrow format are entrusted to ensure the quality consistent implementation of each paragraph of this document,» the head of Kazakhstan said.

Nursultan Nazarabayev stressed that the two countries plan to increase the commodity turnover to $ 1 billion by 2020.

«In order to improve investment cooperation, enhance trade and economic relations, we discussed the establishment of the Business Council of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. This platform will strengthen the business partnership, facilitate the settlement of disputes between enterprises,» the president explained.

Prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of digital technologies were also considered. Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke about the talks on water and energy cooperation, the revitalization of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. «The fate of tens of millions of people, stability and well-being of the whole region depends on effective use of the transboundary rivers of Central Asia,» Nursultan Nazarbayev added.

The heads of state also exchanged views on the global and regional agenda, discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations. All the issues that needed to be discussed were discussed. There are no unsolved or hidden issues that will become an obstacle in the future. «A solid contractual base has been created between the two states, consisting of more than 150 documents. According to the demarcation and the regime of the state border, the issues haven’t been solved for many years, this is the principle of trust,» Nursultan Nazarbayev concluded.

No order on the border — no trust between the states. I am grateful to Sooronbai Sharipovich for taking up this issue, and today we were able to sign it.
