The presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan have ended negotiations in a narrow format the day before. Kazakh media reported.
The day before, Sooronbai Jeenbekov arrived in Astana on an official visit at the invitation of Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Following the meeting, the Kyrgyz leader said that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan should strive for the border between the two countries to become merely a formality. Sooronbai Jeenbekov called the agreement on the demarcation of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz state border signed in Akorda and the agreement on the regime of the state border of the two countries historical. «Thus, we have completed the legal registration of the state border between our two countries. I am convinced that this will contribute to the fact that our borders will be the gateway of trust, good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation,» the Kyrgyz president said.
At the same time, we must strive for the border between us to be only a formality, and our peoples can cross it without hindrance, as it was before. After all, we are truly fraternal peoples.
