Kyrgyzstan plans to reduce industrial accidents

National Labour Protection Program for 2018-2022 was developed to protect the lives and health of workers and improve working conditions in Kyrgyzstan.

According to statistics, in 2012, 130 people suffered from industrial accidents, 23 of them died. In 2013, there was an increase in the number of victims, and in 2015, on the contrary, the situation with injuries improved. In 2016, the number of deaths increased by 23.8 percent.

Accidents with a severe outcome mainly occur in industry, mining, construction and transport.

The national program until 2022 forecasts reduction by 10 percent of accidents in the process of performing their duties by employees.

«During the inspections it was found out that most of the enterprises and organizations have morally and physically obsolete equipment in operation, do not modernize it, and weakly resolve issues of material support for production and labor protection measures. Managers and professionals who have not been trained in labor protection and safety are engaged in management of enterprises and organizations of small and medium-sized businesses,» the document says.
