Deputies approve Kubanychbek Kulmatov as head of National Bank

Deputies of the parliamentary committee on economic and fiscal policy approved the candidacy of Kubanychbek Kulmatov for the post of head of the National Bank. The decision was made today at its meeting unanimously.

Deputies asked Kubanychbek Kulmatov how he saw the development of the banking sector in Kyrgyzstan and whether his historical education would allow him to head the National Bank. There were also questions about possible personnel reshuffles after the appointment and holding of som’s exchange rate.

After consideration of the issue, the chairman of the committee Nurlanbek Makeev noted that he supports the candidacy of Kubanychbek Kulmatov in advance.

«The president proposed your candidacy, so I support you in advance. But as a deputy, I would be against,» Nurlanbek Makeev said.
