President of Kyrgyzstan against construction of laboratory in Botanical Garden

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev recommended the government to work out an alternative solution on construction of a laboratory in order to avoid environmental damage to E.Gareev Botanical Garden. Information Policy Department of the Office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to it, the head of state noted that the construction of a laboratory on the territory of the Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences is contrary to the laws of the country and jeopardizes the preservation of its unique collection of plants.

According to the President, the Botanical Garden has the status of a specially protected natural area, it is a national treasure and is under the protection of the state, the statement says.

In addition, the head of state stressed the need to take E.Gareev Botanical Garden from the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan and form an independent research institution with the simultaneous assignment of «national» status, the Information Department noted.
