More than 40 families refuse to resettle from dangerous places

More than 40 families in Uzgen district refuse to move from landslide-prone areas. Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Kubatbek Boronov said this at a press conference.

«They do not resettle, although they have received plots in other areas. But they can not live there, and we plan to resettle them after negotiations, because landslides can happen again next year," the minister said.

He noted that only four families lived legally in Ayu-Sai village, the rest moved there ignoring the prohibition order. «They have been told about resettlement since 2003, but they continued to live there that eventually led to tragic consequences," the minister said.

According to him, 219 hectares of land have been transformed in Uzgen district: 752 families will be resettled to Kyzyl-Oktyabr rural area, and 164 families — to Ana-Kyzyl rural area.
