Kyrgyzstan plans to export sugar to countries of EEU

Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov, as part of his working trip to Chui region, got acquainted with the progress of modernization of the sugar production enterprise  Koshoy OJSC, the launch of which in the future will allow exporting sugar to the countries of the EEU, the Information Support Department of the Kyrgyz Government reported.

According to it, the head of government noted that the launch of Koshoy plant is one of the main projects in agriculture, since with its launch in autumn of 2017, the issue of processing sugar beet and providing the population with domestic sugar will be solved.

Alexander Barbalat, the General Director of Koshoy OJSC, recalled that the plant suspended its activities in 2004. In November 2016, OJSC took a loan in the Russian-Kyrgyz Fund for $ 10 million for reconstruction. After its commissioning, up to a thousand jobs will be created.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov stressed that all planned measures for the reconstruction of the plant must be completed by the planned date — October 2017. This is necessary to ensure that in the coming autumn the farmers won’t have problems with the sale of grown products like in the past year.
