All buildings in Kyrgyzstan to have energy performance certificates

The State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use proposes to issue energy performance certificates to buildings. The corresponding bill was discussed today at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on the Fuel and Energy Code.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee Azamat Omorov, today the task is to create optimal organizational, regulatory and economic conditions for the introduction of energy efficiency. Buildings in Kyrgyzstan need to be examined to determine the potential for energy conservation, to develop the most effective ways to implement it.

Based on the results of the examination, it is proposed to issue energy performance certificates for rational use of fuel and energy resources, regardless of the form of ownership.

This must be done in conditions of a deficit of own energy resources and constantly rising prices for imported hydrocarbons. The projected electricity deficit in 2017 will be 3 billion kilowatt-hours. In this regard, it is necessary to take measures to promote energy conservation policies in all sectors of the economy of the country.
