Global Money Week launched in Kyrgyzstan

Global Money Week was launched in Kyrgyzstan for the fourth time, the Chairman of the National Bank of the country Tolkunbek Abdygulov said today at a press conference.

According to him, the campaign takes place from March 27 till April 2. Over one hundred countries of the world participate in it under the auspices of the Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI). The motto of the campaign this year is: «Learn. Make savings. Earn money!»

The aim of the Global Money Week is to draw public attention to the financial literacy and financial education of children and young people.

«Last year, a program to increase the financial literacy of the population until 2020 was adopted. It provides for a variety of activities. As part of the work on raising the level of financial literacy, we created a special site finsabat.kg, where one can find the information.  We annually publish «Money Alphabet" for junior schoolchildren. Global Money Week is important for improving the level of financial literacy of the population," Tolkunbek Adigulov said.

At least 20,000 schoolchildren, parents and teachers will take part in the Global Money Week this year. The campaign is held for the fourth time, but at a national scale — for the third time. Most of the country’s commercial banks, state bodies and international organizations participate in it. The coordinator is the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan.
