Kyrgyzstan will purchase 150 ambulances for its emergency medical service. Health Minister Damir Osmonov announced to journalists.
According to him, the fleet is planned to be replenished this year; a tender has already been held.
«Sixty fully equipped Mercedes ambulances will arrive soon. They are designed for Bishkek. In addition, 90 vehicles have been ordered,» the Minister of Health said.
A ceremony was held in Bishkek today to hand over 100 vehicles to regional healthcare institutions.
«We primarily focused on the regions. In this way, we are covering that need. However, the need for ambulances and equipment has not yet been met,» Osmonov added.
It was previously reported that Bishkek’s ambulance fleet is extremely worn out. Two-thirds of the vehicles have reached two or three of their service lives.
Taking into account the city’s population and new boundaries, the actual need for the capital is approximately 150 ambulance teams. Currently, less than one-third of the required number are operational.
