Human remains were discovered in the village of Baetov in Ak-Talaa district of Naryn region during excavation work for a water pipeline.
According to local residents, the discovery was made on May 16 during earthworks. After the old skeletal remains were found, employees of the district police department were called to the scene.
The director of the Ak-Talaa District Historical and Ethnographic Museum, Zeinep Zhanalieva, said the remains will be sent to Bishkek for examination.
«We were informed that during trench digging for clean water, old human remains were found. They were discovered at the intersection of Saparaly Arkabaev and Asankan Emilbekov streets. The remains are currently at the district police department. We visited the site today. We were told that the bones will be sent to Bishkek for examination, after which full information will be provided,» she said.
The press service of the police department of Naryn region confirmed that the remains have been sent for examination.
According to preliminary museum assessments, the remains may date back to the 18th century. The appropriate tests have been scheduled.
