The sixth meeting of heads of railway administrations from member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Bishkek, bringing together representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the state enterprise Kyrgyz Temir Zholu reported.
Director General of the state enterprise Azamat Sakiev said that cargo transportation between Kyrgyzstan and SCO countries has increased by one-third over the past two years. He noted that the country is prioritizing the development of international transport corridors and digital transformation of the railway sector.
A key milestone was the introduction in 2025 of the automated system Unified Transportation Process Model.
«We are actively participating in the development of international corridors, which allows us to increase transit volumes through our territory. Digitalization plays a crucial role, helping streamline operations and improve interaction between all stakeholders — from shippers to government and customs authorities,» Sakiev said.
According to him, digital solutions are being implemented as part of the SCO’s overall strategy to integrate railway systems and increase the transparency of international transport.
Participants also discussed the implementation of previously adopted decisions, the progress of the action plan for the implementation of the concept of interaction between the railway administrations of the SCO member states until 2027, the development of cooperation aimed at improving the efficiency of international rail transport, as well as the interaction of railway administrations in the modernization of existing and construction of new railway infrastructure facilities, integration processes in the railway sector, the development of cooperation in the field of training and advanced training of personnel, the exchange of experience and the implementation of joint educational and training programs for railway transport specialists of the SCO member states.
