The World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship has kicked off in Doha, Qatar, the Chess Union of Kyrgyzstan reported.
A total of 247 men and 141 women are taking part in the competition. Kyrgyzstan is represented by Eldiyar Orozbaev and Asel Lesbekova.
After the opening rounds, Eldiyar Orozbaev has scored four points (three wins and two draws) and is currently in ninth place, on par with the world’s top grandmasters.
