President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov spoke at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS+ summit in an expanded format, held in Kazan.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan shares the BRICS goals of developing entrepreneurship, digital and environmentally friendly technologies, and solving climate problems.
The head of state stated that these principles fully coincide with the Sustainable Development Goals integrated into the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2040. According to him, the topic of combating climate change is especially relevant for mountainous states and in this regard Kyrgyzstan initiated the «Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions» for 2023-2027, adopted by the UN General Assembly.
Another initiative of the country was also noted — consolidation of a new global Dialogue on Mountains and Climate Change as an annual event within the framework of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the formation of the Mountain Partnership Negotiating Group.
«The Kyrgyz Republic stands for a fair and non-discriminatory international economic order, universal access to the benefits of the global economy and modern technologies. I am convinced that the development of alternative mechanisms for BRICS cross-border payments, new financial instruments using digital capabilities, and the improvement of payment infrastructure will contribute to the growth and efficiency of trade on a regional and global scale,» Sadyr Japarov said.
He also informed that Kyrgyzstan is interested in cooperation with the New Development Bank, especially in the framework of financing infrastructure projects and sustainable development projects both in the BRICS countries and in other developing countries. He expressed hope that the role of the bank will increase in order to eradicate poverty, develop infrastructure and increase resilience to global challenges.
The President emphasized the readiness to share the republic’s experience in the development of digitalization, infrastructure projects and transition to a green economy with interested participants in Outreach / BRICS + format.
