The former Ombudsman intends to ask the President of Kyrgyzstan for the country’s accession to BRICS. Tursunbek Akun, the current coordinator of the Congress for the Protection of Human Rights in Central Asia and the Chairman of the Human Rights Movement of the Kyrgyz Republic, told journalists.
According to him, he plans to ask the President of the Republic Sadyr Japarov to apply for accession to BRICS.
Tursunbek Akun is also currently in the capital of Tatarstan.
«I came here to support BRICS, because BRICS is the hope of the entire globe,» he told the media.
The next BRICS summit started in Kazan on October 22. It is attended by leaders of 36 countries and representatives of six international organizations. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also arrived in the capital of Tatarstan to participate in the BRICS meeting.
The President of Kyrgyzstan arrived in Kazan at the invitation of the Russian leader. Sadyr Japarov and Vladimir Putin held an official meeting on the sidelines of the summit.
It was reported earlier that Kazakhstan would refrain from joining BRICS for now.
