A fundamental decision to remove the radical Taliban movement from the list of terrorist organizations has been made at the highest level, but the necessary legal procedures still need to be followed. The Special Representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, told journalists, TASS reports.
«The Foreign Ministry, together with the FSB and a number of other Russian agencies, is completing legal work on the process of removing the Taliban movement from the terrorist list of the Russian Federation. It is not a matter of desire, the fundamental decision on this issue has been made by the top leadership of Russia. But all processes must be carried out within the framework of the Russian legal field,» he said following the meeting of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan.
«This requires meticulous work by lawyers, parliament and other agencies so that the process is completed in accordance with the procedure established by law. We are obliged to comply with federal laws, and I hope that the final decision will be announced in the very near future,» he said following the meeting.
Kazakhstan had previously made such a decision on the Taliban, as well as Kyrgyzstan.
