The former bodyguard of Almazbek Atambayev will be in custody until December 5. The decision was made by the Karakol City Court.
It is noted that the judge granted the investigator’s petition to extend the preventive measure for the suspect Erkinbek Mambetaliev.
Recall, he was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Karakol city under Article 261, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic «Participation in an organized group».
Earlier, Erkin Mambetaliev was convicted of the murder of a police officer — the head of the Main Directorate for Combating Official Crimes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Colonel Chynybek Aliev. In 2008, the Supreme Court found Erkin Mambetaliev guilty of complicity in the murder of several people, including deputy Zhyrgalbek Surabaldiev, and sentenced him to life imprisonment. However, after the events in April 2010, the court reviewed the case, applied amnesty, and he was released directly from the courtroom.
On September 25, the press center of the State Committee for National Security reported that the property of the organized crime group member Erkin Mambetaliev worth $5.7 million was returned to the state.
