Kyrgyzstan has made a " leap of leopard " in the economy, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov said at the International Scientific and Practical Conference: «Development of Economic Thought: Research and Solutions».
According to him, in 2023, GDP growth was 8.7 percent, and excluding Kumtor — 10.6 percent. The nominal volume of GDP exceeded 1.2 trillion soms, and in 2024, according to forecasts, it will reach 1.5 trillion soms.
Among the major achievements, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers highlighted the start of construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which will become an important transport corridor, and the renewal of the country’s material and technical base.
According to him, over the past three years, 2,000 kilometers of roads have been built in the republic, and the country’s industry is actively developing.
«From a country that did not produce a single nail, we have turned into a country that produces cars,» Akylbek Japarov emphasized.
He expressed hope that the conference would become a useful platform for exchanging ideas and solutions that will help make the economy of Kyrgyzstan more sustainable and improve the standard of living of the population.
Akylbek Japarov took part in the international economic conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region and the 75th anniversary of the outstanding economist Tolobek Kamchybekov.
