The official opening ceremony of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan took place in Osh city.
The event was attended by the Vice Mayor of the city Nurbek Kadyrov, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the region Elchibek Zhantaev and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan Khurshid Mirzakhidov.
It is noted that the consulate was opened with the aim of developing economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as providing assistance to citizens of Uzbekistan in this region.
The diplomatic mission is headed by Zafarbek Akhmedov. He arrived in Osh in November.
Previously, he worked as head of the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. He is 54 years old.
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Osh began work in 2022. Its consular district includes Batken, Jalal-Abad and Osh regions of Kyrgyzstan.
