Kyrgyzstan extends ban on export of catalysts and shell rock

The ban on the export of used car catalysts, slag, ash and residues of precious metals contained in catalysts has been extended in Kyrgyzstan. The corresponding resolution was signed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov.

It is prohibited to export this type of goods in the next six months.

A similar measure is applied to shell limestone, unprocessed or roughly crushed, sawn or otherwise divided into blocks or slabs of rectangular or square shape by another resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The ban on the export of catalysts was first imposed in August 2021 and has been continuously extended since then.

Previously, authorities noted that catalysts are usually removed from cars because they contain precious metals — platinum, rhodium or palladium salts. Due to this, their cost can reach 13 percent of the price of the car.
