The number of employees at Kumtor gold mine has grown by 33 percent, or by 1,156 people for four years. Data from the company’s website say.
Since 2017, the enterprise has taken a course to reduce the cost of gold production, including gradually reducing the staff in order to reduce administrative costs. As a result, in 2019, 3,467 people worked at Kumtor: 2,637 full-time employees and 830 representatives of contractors. The number of employees decreased by 173 people, including contractors were reduced by 117 people.
The situation has changed, and 4,600 people work at Kumtor now.
If at the end of 2019 there were 3,467 employees at Kumtor, by 2023 their number has grown to 4,623. This includes 3,417 employees of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC, and 1,206 contractors. In 2019, there were 2,637 fulltime employees and 830 contractors.
Thus, the number of full-time employees increased by 780 (by 29.5 percent) and contractors by 376 (45.3 percent).
Recall, the audit data show an increase in administrative expenses, which include wages. If in 2021 the figure was slightly more than $8 million, then last year it almost doubled to $15.9 million.
