The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan applied to poultry meat producers. Officials ask to pay attention to the fact that work is underway to supplement the list of standards with a methodology that determines the presence of nitrofurans (including furazolidone) in individual poultry slaughter products.
Poultry meat products will be tested for the presence of nitrofurans. Previously, there was no detection method.
Nitrofurans are antimicrobial drugs used in production to prevent various infections in poultry. Presence of nitrofurans in meat indicates that the bird was slaughtered ahead of time, the timing of the removal of antibiotics from the body was not taken into account. In case of regular consumption of meat with antibiotics, immunity to them is developed in humans, which is especially bad for health. In addition, it has a harmful effect on the intestinal microflora.
The draft decision is posted on the official website of the Eurasian Economic Union.
