The position of a country in the ranking is determined by the number of countries in the world that its citizens can enter without prior visa application (or with a visa upon arrival). The Passport Index is the first ever international ranking of countries in terms of the freedom of movement of citizens, reflecting international relations and the status of states on the world stage.
