Russians arrived in Kyrgyzstan after mobilization not to get refugee status

Russians, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan after the announcement of mobilization, will not be granted refugee status. It was announced at the meeting of the Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction of the Parliament.

Deputies discussed amendments to the law «On acts of civil status» in the second reading.

In the original version of the document, initiated by the Cabinet of Ministers, it was proposed to grant refugee status to Russians who arrived in Kyrgyzstan after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia. However, in the first reading, a number of deputies opposed this initiative and asked to finalize the document.

«If we adopt the revised document, will the Russians, who arrived after mobilization, receive refugee status?» asked the deputy Tazabek Ikramov.

Representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development responded negatively.

«For two years no one has been granted refugee status. At least 159 people have received this status for 20 years. We simply want to harmonize our documents with the bill. This law does not address the topic of granting refugee status or citizenship to anyone,» a representative of the Ministry of Digital Development said.
