«I cannot but agree with Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko when he said that we need to work more effectively to remove these barriers. This is true. They hinder free trade between our countries, and we must work harder on this,» Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in an expanded format.
He also noted that cooperation between the countries of the Union in the field of energy was actively moving forward. A decision will be made today to establish a Council of heads of authorized bodies of the EAEU states in this area. Putin noted that the leaders «spoke quite frankly and substantively» about this at the meeting in a narrow format.
«In my opinion, there is mutual understanding. We will move forward to fulfill all our plans. Russia, of course, supports the creation of such a coordination structure that will professionally deal with issues related to providing national economies with key energy resources on a long-term basis and the formation of common energy markets of the Union. We have relevant plans, and we will strive to fulfill them,» the Russian President said.
He also stressed that the five states also work closely in the field of transport and logistics. Their freight traffic indicators are growing, which shows an improvement in throughput in the Union.
In addition, the President of Russia informed that the traditional informal meeting of CIS leaders on the eve of the New Year would be held in St. Petersburg.
«Outside of the scope of our work today, I would like to remind you that we are waiting for you at the agreed pre-New Year informal meeting of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg,» he concluded.
