The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan plans to introduce night and day electricity rates. The head of the ministry, Taalaibek Ibraev, announced at a meeting of the Parliament.
According to him, the tariff policy already provides for such changes as part of the program for opening a joint Kyrgyz-Uzbek enterprise for the production of electric meters.
«The new meters provide for day and night rates. Sooner or later we will switch to such payment. To date, this practice is used in some sanatoriums. Consumption of electricity is cheaper at night, it is more expensive during the day. Bread is baked and linen is washed at night in these sanatoriums. Such a tariff would be beneficial for businessmen. Sewing shops, bakeries and other enterprises would switch to such tariff,» Taalaibek Ibraev said.
The official added that the peak of electricity consumption falls on the period from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
