Development of Solton-Sary field to begin in Kyrgyzstan

Spokesman for the President Erbol Sultanbaev announced that a permission had been given to develop Solton-Sary field.

He reminded that Sadyr Japarov visited the field in Naryn region in June.

«The head of state studied in detail the current situation at the field and met with local residents. He listened to their concerns that the construction of roads and infrastructure would have a negative impact on the environment. However, as you can see for yourself, the roads have been laid long time ago, construction of the factory has begun. It was decided that there would be no other work related to the destruction of the soil, therefore, permission was given to develop Solton-Sary field. At the same time, the company will annually pay compensation to local residents in the amount of 50 million soms. An agreement was also reached that the amount of payments will increase after the start of gold mining. In addition, there will be a state share. Cyanide will not be used in the development of the field. Gold will be refined in Kara-Balta,» Erbol Sultanbaev said.

Some people tried to seize the field in December 20.

Last year, at the request of the local population, the Government suspended the license of Zhong Ji Mining for the development of Solton-Sary field. On August 5, 2019, residents of the villages in Naryn region gathered at the field and voiced demands for suspension of Zhong Ji Mining’s activities at the gold deposit.

The explored reserves of gold at the site are 12 tons. According to geologists’ forecasts, additional reserves of the precious metal may amount to about 22 more tons
