The Government of China sent a contractor to Kyrgyzstan for the construction of bypass Chui canal — 2. Press service of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce reported.
The canal will be built at the expense of a Chinese grant. Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co. Ltd. will implement the project. Representatives of the contractor met with Kanat Abdrakhmanov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, to discuss the preliminary results of the study by the expert group on the project and preparation of a feasibility study.
Earlier, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov reported that the construction of the bypass Chui canal — 2 will require 5 billion soms. The project will help solve the problem of lack of irrigation water in Chui region, which is caused by the lack of irrigation canals. At least 300-400 million cubic meters of water released for irrigation from Orto-Tokoi reservoir are lost annually because of this.
