Kyrgyzstan and Russia sign agreement on fishing industry

An agreement was signed between the Government of Russia and the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan on cooperation in the field of fishing industry. The Federal Agency for Fishery reports.

The document was adopted on the sidelines of the 9th Russian-Kyrgyz Interregional Conference in Yekaterinburg (Russia). It is necessary to more fully meet the consumer demand for fish and fish products of both countries and to create favorable conditions and legal basis for cooperation in the fisheries sector.

The parties plan to develop cooperation on artificial reproduction, including scientific support for the preparation of biotechnologies for the restoration of depressive stocks of native species.

«It is obvious that commercial aquaculture is the most promising direction for Kyrgyzstan while expanding local demand and access to foreign markets. There is a high demand for trout and all types of salmon in Russia. The salmon farming segment in our country is growing like the aquaculture production in general. This is a worldwide trend. Against the background of redistribution of commodity flows under sanctions, we are open to Kyrgyzstan supplying trout and other salmon species to Russia,» Ilya Shestakov said.

A Russian-Kyrgyz commission on cooperation in the field of fisheries is created to implement the agreement.
