Kyrgyzstan received medical equipment for 31 million soms from USAID. The republican headquarters reported.

According to it, equipment will be distributed among medical institutions throughout the country in support of the response to the pandemic.

The Department of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance received GeneXpert — a modern diagnostic equipment which reduces the time of testing for COVID-19 from five hours to 40 minutes. This technology can accurately detect not only coronavirus, but also other infections such as tuberculosis.

In addition, the department received a video conferencing system and computers to better monitor the country’s epidemiological situation.

«The pandemic has shown that the country must be prepared for a dramatic increase in the incidence of COVID-19. New strains of coronavirus are emerging, so USAID’s help in equipping hospitals and other medical facilities is very important,» the Deputy Minister of Health Uluk-Bek Bekturganov said.

The Chui Regional Hospital, the National Hospital, and Osh City Clinical Hospital will also receive different equipment, including a mobile X-ray machine, a video bronchoscope, disinfection chambers, and boxes for transportation of samples.
