Water supply from Orto-Tokoi reservoir to Chui region to begin in April

Orto-Tokoi reservoir is 90 percent full of water. Water supply to Chui region is planned for April. Deputy Director of the State Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture Valery Gutnik told 24.kg news agency.

«The total volume of the reservoir is 470 million cubic meters. Water will be supplied for irrigation of 320,000 hectares of agricultural land in Chui region,» he said.

He also noted that 2 million soms were allocated this year for the repair of equipment at the hydraulic facility, 200,000 of which have already been used.

Due to lack of water and drought, agricultural producers faced serious problems last year. According to officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, there was a tangible reduction in the yield of all types of crops.
