Cooperation within the framework of the global project One Belt, One Road is designed to combine efforts to find comprehensive answers to complex cross-border, socio-economic and humanitarian challenges that the entire international community is facing. The President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said in an interview with the China Global Television Network (CGTN).
According to him, specifically for Central Asia, One Belt, One Road provides additional advantages for the conjunction of economic opportunities for the benefit of solving the strategic task of direct access to seaports and transforming the region into a major crossroads of transcontinental highways from east to west and from north to south.
«In this regard, the soonest possible practical implementation of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railroad project should become a significant step towards the full development of the transit potential of the Central Asian region and an important link in the promotion of the One Belt, One Road initiative,» he said.
Sadyr Japarov called this road a road of friendship, good neighborliness and sustainable development and expressed confidence that its construction would begin soon.
In his opinion, the project is ambitious in terms of economic potential. The construction of the railroad will increase the transport and transit potential not only of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, but also the entire Central Asian region, since the existing railroads can no longer cope with the growing flow of goods and cargoes from China to the region, as well as to European countries.
The Kyrgyz president added that the project will also allow to create international multimodal logistics centers and form a network of industrial clusters. It is always on the agenda of bilateral relations, there are no political disagreements about its essence and expediency, there are only issues related to technical aspects and the financial component of the project, on which specialists of the three countries are currently working together.
«I am confident that by joint efforts we will begin construction of this road in the near future, which is designed to become the road of friendship, good neighborliness and sustainable development,» Sadyr Japarov said.
The head of state is on a working visit to China from February 3 to February 6. One of the main issues for discussion will be the prospect of building an international railway China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan. In the framework of trade and economic cooperation, the Kyrgyz side will raise issues of expanding the capacity of checkpoints Irkeshtam and Torugart and the resumption of air traffic between the countries. In addition, the Kyrgyz delegation is ready to discuss investment cooperation, intending to propose a number of projects in the fields of energy, mining, agriculture and education.
