Kyrgyzstan and India discussed the Cross Year of Culture and Friendship. According to the Embassy of India in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kyrgyz Ambassador to India Asein Isayev met in New Delhi with the newly appointed Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Kumar Tuhin.
«The parties discussed issues of joint cultural events during the current year in the framework of the Cross Year of Culture and Friendship between the Kyrgyz Republic and India, as well as on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In particular, the Kyrgyz side proposed to organize a concert of one of the creative groups from Kyrgyzstan in the regions of India, as well as an exchange of creative teams, joint art exhibition, Days of Kyrgyz cinema in India and Days of Indian cinema in the Kyrgyz Republic, production of thematic TV programs on friendship and mutual cultural exchange between the two countries, the exhibition of crafts and handicrafts of Kyrgyzstan in India,» the statement says.
The parties also discussed the possibility of an annual exchange of students and professors of the two countries for holding lectures at international relations departments of universities.
The ICCR head urged Kyrgyz students to apply for quotas, which are also allocated under the Ayurveda scholarship program. It provides an opportunity to take courses in traditional Indian medicine.
