Former presidential candidate of Kyrgyzstan Omurbek Babanov appealed to Almazbek Atambayev and the head of state Sooronbai Jeenbekov with a request to stop the bloodshed. The appeal of the politician was posted on Facebook.
According to him, the authorities are anyway responsible for what is happening. «Unfortunately, there are victims. We should not allow continuation of the conflict in any case — it has gone beyond the framework of a personal and is developing into a civil confrontation. This must be stopped! Our people will never forgive Akayev for the bloodshed in 2002 in Aksy and Bakiyev for the bloodshed in 2010 in Talas and Bishkek! It is necessary to stop the tragic events, ordinary people suffer! The people in Koi-Tash and the special forces are our citizens, our sons, daughters, sisters and brothers! You can’t push them to death and ruin their fate!» Omurbek Babanov posts.
He recalled that he could not come to his homeland in April only when he fully realized that there would be provocations and victims.
Yesterday night, special forces of the SCNS attempted to detain the former president of the country Almazbek Atambayev in Koi-Tash village. However, the storm failed. Atambayev’s supporters did not let the special forces into the house of the former head of state. During the second detention attempt, riots broke out. There are wounded and injured. Nearly 50 people were taken to hospitals in Bishkek and Chui region. One serviceman of the SCNS Special Forces received a gunshot wound. He died in a hospital. The head of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Chui region was broken his head. He’s in a coma. Criminal cases were opened after riots in Koi-Tash.
