Personnel changes are expected in Kyrgyzstan’s security structures. According to one version of events, current Prosecutor General Maksat Asanaliev may be appointed head of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), own sources told 24.kg news agency.
Sources also say a new appointment is being prepared for Shabdanbekov. He is expected to take another senior government position of comparable importance.
No official announcement regarding the appointment had been made at the time of publication.
Maksat Asanaliev was born on March 24, 1974, in the village of Kara-Koo, Ton district, Issyk-Kul region. He graduated from the law faculty of Kyrgyz National University.
After graduating, he worked in state security bodies. He served as an investigator and senior investigator for especially important cases at the SCNS, and later held senior positions in the prosecution system and other law enforcement agencies.
Maksat Asanaliev was appointed Prosecutor General of Kyrgyzstan in 2025.
According to sources, if he moves to the SCNS, one of the current deputy prosecutors general may become the new Prosecutor General. A final decision has not yet been officially announced.
