Counterintelligence will get access to the biometric data of Kyrgyzstanis without their consent. The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan voiced such a proposal.
Previously, obtaining of information on biometric data without citizens’ consent was carried out only in cases of administration of justice and execution of a judicial act, as well as in cases provided for by the legislation of Kyrgyzstan on national security, countering terrorism and corruption, and operational investigative activities.
The SCNS proposes to include in this list external intelligence and counterintelligence activities.
In addition, under the new amendments, the National Center for Torture Prevention will not be able to interfere in counterintelligence activities.
